Why Zero Waste?

The Bouctouche Farmers’ Market (BFM) is striving to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and we need your help. Our Zero Waste Program aims to help both consumers and vendors be a part of the solution.

Taking many steps has a significant impact. In a world where we have an increased awareness of the environmental impact of food-related waste and the reality where a typical Canadian household wastes 140kg (approx. value of $1100) of food per year.

We are leading with bold and innovative tools that bring our growing Market community on an enjoyable, educational and practical journey towards a Zero Waste Farmers’ Market model and reduce our collective FoodPrint in the area.

  • Take the time to properly sort materials at the Waste Sorting Stations
  • Use the BFM GET REAL DISHES to eat your meal
  • Take part in one of the many Zero Waste learning opportunities
  • Bring and use recyclable and reusable dishes and containers if possible
