Slow Food at the
Bouctouche Farmers’ Market
While building on the Slow Food principles of Good, Clean and Fair food for all, the Bouctouche Farmers’ Market is a catalyst for community change, food education and capacity-building. As a partner of the first Slow Food convivium in New Brunswick (Slow Food Cocagne Acadie), the Bouctouche Farmers’ Market wanted to help grow the movement by integrating the Slow Food values into its weekly programming.
In summers of 2017 and 2018, a special outdoor pavilion was set up to create a weekly conversation table with unique food education and environmental themes that progressed from seed to harvest throughout the season. Facilitators along with a variety of special guests, hosted conversations with consumers, vendors and potential participants around a variety of ideas and challenges.
